This is a tough question! Both are amazing, but if I had to choose, I personally recommend Kamakura.

Kamakura covers a larger area – start early for a full day!

What About Kawagoe?

“Is Kawagoe good too?”

Yes! Kawagoe is also charming!

Good for:

• Beautiful shrines and temples
• Kurazukuri Street (old traditional houses)
• Candy Alley (local sweets)
• Closer and easier if starting late

Kawagoe is compact – great for half-day or relaxed schedule.

My Recommendation

“Which should I choose?”

Start early? Go to Kamakura for nature and history.

Starting late? Visit Kawagoe for a quick, traditional experience.

Either way, you’ll have an amazing day trip!
