Is Kanazawa Worth Visiting? Should I Skip It?
A local's honest opinion on Kanazawa. Why I love this city and who should visit.
โIs it worth visiting Kanazawa? Some people say to skip it.โ
I really love Kanazawa. If you like sushi, art, or Japanese sake, you should definitely go!
Why Kanazawa Is Special
โWhat makes it different from other cities?โ
Best sushi in Japan โ I think Kanazawa has even better sushi than Tokyo. The fish comes straight from the Sea of Japan, and itโs incredibly fresh.
Beautiful gardens โ Kenrokuen is one of Japanโs top 3 gardens.
Ninja Temple (Myouryuji) โ This is a must-see! The whole temple is full of traps, hidden rooms, and surprises. You need a reservation, but itโs worth it.
Art museums โ The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art is amazing.
Who Should Visit Kanazawa
โIs it right for me?โ
Go to Kanazawa if you:
- Love sushi and seafood
- Enjoy traditional Japanese culture
- Want to see beautiful gardens
- Like sake (Kanazawa has great local sake)
- Want fewer tourists than Kyoto
Maybe skip if you:
- Only have 1 week total in Japan
- Prefer big city excitement
- Donโt like seafood
How to Get There
โIs it easy to reach?โ
From Tokyo: 2.5 hours by Shinkansen (Hokuriku Shinkansen)
Very easy! You can do it as a day trip, but I recommend staying 1-2 nights.
