Proper Etiquette
โHow should I behave?โ
At the torii gate:
- Bow slightly before entering
- Walk on the sides, not center (reserved for gods)
At the purification fountain:
- Take ladle with right hand, pour on left hand
- Switch to left hand, pour on right hand
- Pour water into left hand, rinse mouth
- Clean ladle handle
At the main shrine:
- Bow twice
- Clap twice
- Bow once
- (Optional: toss coin, make a wish)
