Street Smoking

Generally NO in most cities:
- Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto ban street smoking
- Large fines possible (Β₯1000-5000)
- Look for designated smoking areas
Find smoking areas:
- Near train stations
- Marked with signs
- Small enclosed spaces or outdoor sections
Indoor Smoking

2020 law changed things:
- Most restaurants: No smoking
- Bars/izakayas: Sometimes allowed
- Hotels: Smoking rooms available
