Japan in winter is stunning β and you donβt need to go to Hokkaido to see snow. Here are the best day trips for snow scenery:
From Tokyo
1. Nikko (Tochigi) β 2 hours
- What youβll see: Snow-covered Toshogu Shrine, frozen waterfalls (Kegon Falls), and pristine mountain forests
- Access: JR or Tobu Line from Asakusa/Shinjuku
- Best months: January β February
- Tip: The snow on the shrine buildings is incredibly photogenic. Go early morning for the best shots
2. Kawaguchiko (Yamanashi) β 2 hours
