Can we use Suica at Tokyo and Kyoto and other areas?

โ€œHelpโ€ฆ and apologies if this is covered already, I did not find it. We have 2 x Suica and 1 x ICOCA cards which all have money on them and all work everywhere EXCEPT transport.. subway or railway. We are in kyoto and have been unable to discover how to fix this. The cards are at most a few days old, have been kept carefully but today all of them were rejected, including one we had just bought/loaded. Can you help? Thanksโ€

You can use your Suica card in Tokyo, Kyoto, and pretty much anywhere across Japan. And guess what? Itโ€™s not just Suica โ€“ cards like Pasmo and ICOCA work nationwide too. It used to be that these cards were only good in their specific regions, but now you can use them anywhere in the country, no matter where you bought them. Super convenient, right? So whether you pick up a Pasmo in Tokyo or an ICOCA in Kansai, youโ€™re all set for seamless travel throughout Japan.
